Google AI Studio

Write product texts and sponsor emails with Google's free AI Studio, and build a system instruction that keeps the company tone consistent.

What you get from this

After this guide you have a free writing aid that can produce product texts, sales emails and social media posts in a few minutes instead of a full working day. You also get a saved instruction that keeps the company's tone consistent in everything you write, no matter who in the company is at the keyboard.

Google AI Studio is a web page where you write to Google's AI models, that is, artificial intelligence models, and get answers right away. You do not need to know how to program and you do not need to install anything. Everything happens in the browser. Google's terms of service describe the service as intended for developers for professional or business purposes, not for private consumer use, which a company writing its own texts normally falls within.

What you need before you start

  • A Google account. It needs to be a regular personal account or a Google Workspace account where the administrator has enabled the service.
  • That you are at least 18 years old. Google requires 18 years for Google AI Studio, and that applies to the free tier as well. If the person logging in is not yet 18, use the Gemini app instead, where 13 years is enough with a personal Google account. The steps in this guide work almost the same way there.
  • Facts about the product gathered in one place: material, dimensions, price, how it is made, what makes it worth the money.
  • Two or three texts you already like, from yourselves or from a company you look up to. They become the tone you imitate.
  • Someone in the company who proofreads everything before it is published. AI makes things up with great confidence in its voice, and it is the last person to read it who catches that.

Time required and difficulty level

Allow 30 to 45 minutes the first time, about half of which goes to writing the company's system instruction. After that, a product text takes two to five minutes. The difficulty level is low. The hard part is not the tool, it is deciding what you actually want to say.

Sign in and find your way

  1. Go to aistudio.google.com and sign in with your Google account. Sweden is one of the countries where the service works, so no hassle with VPN or changing country is needed.
  2. Look at the surface you land on. It is called Playground and opens with a new chat. At the bottom is the text box that says "Type something...", and to the right of it the Run button that sends what you have written.
  3. Open the Run settings panel in the top right corner. There you choose the model in the list at the top, and there you find the System Instructions field that you will use in the next section.
  4. Write a first question to see that everything responds, for example: Explain what a company is to someone who has never heard of it, in four sentences. Press Run. If an answer comes within a few seconds, you are up and running.

Build the company voice once, use it every time

System Instructions is an instruction that stays in place and applies to everything you write in that chat. It is the difference between asking for a text and asking for a text that sounds like your company. Write it once, save it in a shared document, paste it in every time.

  1. Open Run settings and click in the System Instructions field.
  2. Paste in an instruction built on this template. It tells the model who it should be, who it is writing to and what it must not do, which are the three things that decide whether the text becomes useful or says nothing at all.
Du skriver för företaget Ljusgården, som säljer
handgjorda ljusstakar i återvunnen betong till
    privatpersoner i Östergötland.

The line about HÅL is the most important one. Without it, the model fills the gaps with made-up details. With it, you get a clear marker at exactly the places where you have to fill in the information yourself.
  3. Write a test request in the text box and press Run: Write a product text for our candlestick in gray concrete, 12 centimeters high, fits tea lights.
  4. Read the answer with the instruction in hand. If it broke a rule, tighten the rule instead of nagging in the chat. A rule that sits in System Instructions applies to a hundred texts, a telling-off in the chat applies to one.

How you know it worked

You can take the same product facts, open a completely new chat, paste in the system instruction and get back a text that sounds the same as last time. The text contains no numbers or claims that you did not enter yourself, and where the knowledge is missing it says GAP. That is the whole point: predictable tone, no surprises on the facts.

Write the texts you actually need

  1. Enter facts first, ask for text after. Paste in the product sheet, the bullet list or the notes, and then write what you want out of it. The model always writes better from material than from thin air.
  2. Ask for several variants in the same answer. Write Give three versions: one factual, one warm, one short at 25 words. Choosing between three is faster than asking for one and then complaining about it.
  3. Let it write sponsor emails with the right starting point. Say who the recipient is, what you want and what the recipient gets back. Example: Write a 120 word email to a local flower shop. We want to sell our candlesticks in their store. They get 30 percent of the sales and a product that fits their range.
  4. Use it as an editor, not just as a writer. Paste in a text you have written yourselves and ask for: Cut everything that does not say anything concrete. Keep my voice. Show what you removed. That often gives a better result than letting AI write from scratch.
  5. Compare models when the answer feels flat. Switch model in the list at the top of Run settings and run exactly the same request again. The models have different styles, and the fastest one is not always the one that writes the best Swedish.
  6. Adjust Temperature in Run settings when the text turns out too similar every time. A low value gives cautious and similar answers, a higher value gives more variation and more nonsense. For product texts, the middle usually works best.

Never paste personal data into AI Studio. Names, email addresses, phone numbers and free text answers from your customer survey count as personal data. Sweden is within the EEA, and for users in the EEA Google applies the same data rules in the free tier as for paying customers, which means the content is not used to develop Google's products. Status when this was written: September 2026. The rule still stands, because you do not have the right to hand over your customers' data to a third party without having asked them. Replace names with Customer 1, Customer 2, Customer 3 before anything is pasted in.

If something goes wrong

  • You cannot get in and get a message about an age requirement: the account is under 18 or does not have a date of birth filled in. The Gemini app at gemini.google.com works from age 13 with a personal Google account, and most of the steps here can be done there instead.
  • The text turns stiff and sounds like a brochure: the instruction is too general. Replace words like "professional" with something measurable, for example "max 90 words, no superlatives, one sentence per claim".
  • The model makes up price, delivery time or material: you have not given it the facts, so it guesses. Paste product facts into the same message and keep the rule about writing GAP when unsure.
  • The answer is cut off in the middle: the output length is set too low. Increase Output length in Run settings, or ask for a shorter text.
  • The Swedish sounds translated, with words like "sömlös" (seamless) and "banbrytande" (groundbreaking): enter them as forbidden words in the system instruction and ask for a new version. The banned list works better than a request to write naturally.
  • You lose an instruction that worked well: the chat is not saved automatically anywhere the rest of the company can find it. Keep the system instruction in a shared document, with the date, and update it there when you change something.

What you do next

Once the texts are in place, the next step is to understand what customers actually said. The guide Get started with NotebookLM shows how you read an entire customer survey in fifteen minutes. If the texts are going on to images and ads, there is Get started with Pomelli. And before anything is published: run the text through LanguageTool, which catches spelling and split compounds that AI tends to miss.
