Install WordPress step by step

Before you start

This guide takes you from nothing to a working WordPress website. You don't need to know how to code. All you need is a computer and a credit card (for hosting).

Step 1: Choose web hosting

Web hosting is where your website lives. Think of it as rented space on the internet. Good options for beginners: Loopia, One.com or Binero. Expect SEK 50-150/month.

Step 2: Register a domain

Your domain is your address on the internet (e.g. mybusiness.com). Most hosts offer this. Costs around SEK 100-200/year.

Step 3: Install WordPress

Most web hosts have "one-click install" for WordPress. Click it. Fill in name, email and password. Done.

Step 4: Choose a theme

WordPress comes with free themes. Go to Appearance → Themes → Add New. Pick one that fits. Astra and flavor themes are good for beginners.

Step 5: Create pages

Go to Pages → Add New. Create: Home, About Us, Services, Contact. Write simple texts explaining what you do.

Step 6: Add contact info

Install the "WPForms Lite" plugin for a contact form. It's free. Add it to your Contact page.
