10 Extra Gigs You Can Do From Home

Balancing work and family life can be a challenge, especially if you have youngsters at home. You probably won’t believe me now, but there are ways to have extra gigs from home, without having to compromise on quality family time!

In today’s digital world, opportunities are more plentiful than ever – from selling services online to creating passive income streams. It’s all about choosing the right side hustles, ones that are flexible and profitable, while being worth the time you invest.

Some of these require you to register a company, which is not only smart from a legal perspective, but also opens doors to even more opportunities.

The list below summarizes the top 10 extra gigs that generate the most money.

Number 10: Moonlighting As A Social Media Influencer

In fact, by starting a social media account, it is quite possible to both earn money and get sponsorship. You can also get commission via so-called affiliate marketing.

Of the social platforms, Instagram has the highest earning potential, with influencers earning between US$ 100 and US$ 1000 per reel created.

My tip is to aim for a topic that is close to your heart and easy for you to talk about. It’s especially good if it’s something you feel very positive about! Cooking, baking, crafting, fashion and beauty, or exercise and health.

Number 9: Extra Gig As Virtual Assistant To Influencer

A virtual assistant is someone who assists a person, or company, remotely. Many influencers need help maintaining their online presence, and at the moment is monetizing content incredibly hot!

A virtual assistant to an influencer can earn up to US$ 1000 per week.

Number 8: Moonlighting As A Personal Assistant

If you are a person with good administrative and organizational skills, you can become a personal assistant.

Through the Upwork platform, there are assistants who charge between US$ 12 – 75 per hour, depending on the experience and services they offer.

Number 7: Coaching

There is a growing demand for coaches who can help students, the self-employed, leaders, families, and organizations achieve both personal and professional development goals.

According to the International Coaching Federation (ICF), the average hourly rate charged by coaches is US$ 244.

Number 6: Start An Online Course

Launching your own online course is another great way to earn extra money!

The extra nice touch is that you do the job of building the course once – then it’s done.

There are lots of different platforms for online training, but ARC Group recommends WordPress, WooCommerce and LearnDash.

A potential amount to earn a month according to an online course calculator is US$ 19,740 if your course costs US$ 60 and you have 6500 visitors per month, of which 5% convert (buy the course).

Number 5: Blogging and Affiliate Marketing

Yes, blogs are still a thing! We might not use the term “blogs” so much anymore, but it’s more “content”, “articles”, or posts (depending on the platform you work with).

However, the written word is alive and well, and having a page where you for example review products and services, or have affiliate marketing, is a great way to earn extra money.

Number 4: Extra Gig As A Freelance Writer

If you are good with words, and even better if you can do it in multiple languages, this extra job is a great way to earn extra money!

Freelance projects can be found on international platforms such as Upwork, Fiverr, Toptal, and Guru.

Number 3: Print-On-Demand

Print-On-Demand (POD) is offered through several great online services! It all works like this:

You register with the supplier you find suitable. There, you choose a product, such as a t-shirt, tank top, sports bra, tights, or thermos mug, and then put your own design on it.

If you are artistic, this is a great way to sell products with your own artwork. If you are in it for the extra gig, there are often various packages of images and other graphics available for purchase that can be used for printing.

We at ARC Group have built two POD solutions, based on WordPress and WooCommerce. They were fully integrated with the POD supplier. When the product was saved in their system, it was automatically made available in our own (the client’s!) store and could be purchased online.

Number 2: Dropshipping

With dropshipping, you have an online shop where you work with a supplier who ships products directly to your customers. This means you don’t need to have your own warehouse, or deal with packing and/or shipping.

It is entirely possible to work with dropshipping both towards B2C (Business 2 Customer) and B2B (Business 2 Business). ARC Group owns and operates, for example, PlastShop.se, which does exactly this!

You can handpick your suppliers and build as big or small a store as you want

Number 1: E-commerce

According to statistics from the US, 87.9% of US consumers (individuals) will shop online in 2025, and e-commerce is the preferred way for 83% of B2B companies.

The shops that are most successful online are those selling handmade goods, vintage items or niche products.

Why money in US$ and US statistics?

The US dollar has become something of a benchmark internationally. In international articles, currencies are often converted into US dollars to make all comparisons look the same.

The statistics we came across are also mainly American. A wild guess is that we have companies like Google, Microsoft and Amazon – all of which are very American!

Summary of Extra Gigs

Whatever extra gig you decide to take on, you need to be patient! Nothing happens overnight. For numbers 1-3, E-commerce, Dropshipping and Print-On-Demand, you can expect to spend a lot of time at the computer.

We can, however, guarantee that it is entirely possible to do and get great results! You just need to find your thing!

Good luck to you!
